Wolfgang migrated to Sydney in 1960, where he set up Australia's first commercial textile design studio.  He quickly became one of the world's most successful designers.  After 34 years at the forefront of the industry, Wolfgang moved his studio to Birdsville to pursue his great passion for painting.

Wolfgang usually works in water colour.  His work is vibrant and daring, reflecting the untamed beauty of the Simpson Desert and Channel Country. He travels the desert extensively, absorbing the landscape's changing patterns of shade and motion.  His acute observations can be seen in the detail of his traditional work and the emotive use of colour in his more abstract paintings.
