Situated along Billabong Boulevard is the Wirrarri Visitor Information Centre.  It is an important first stop to collect your information pack with what to see and do in this part of the Channel Country and view some of the great videos on the character and country which make up this unique and beautiful place we call home.

The centre also contains Birdsville’s library, has internet access and is an administration office for  the Diamantina Shire.  The centre is for the promotion of the whole Shire, not just Birdsville.  There are also kitchen and bar facilities as well as two floodlit tennis courts available for night tennis.  A fully equipped and air-conditioned sports centre housing an indoor cricket and netball court and gymnasium has been added to compliment the town – enquire at the Wirrarri Centre regarding entry.   The newly grassed Birdsville Sports Oval was officially opened in May 2004, providing a fantastic area to play games such as touch football, Cricket and Softball.

We are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join us in 'meeting and greeting' visitors to the Wirrarri Information Centre. Becoming a volunteer is a great way to meet new people, make friends and experience some of the great tourist attractions the Channel Country has to offer.
