The Bedourie Aerodrome following a significant reconstruction, was officially opened on September 16, 2008 by the Honourable John Mickel, Minister for Transport, Trade, Employment and Industrial Relations. The reconstruction of Diamantina’s Airstrip was at an estimated cost of $1.77 million. The airstrip is considered a vital community asset that has improved regular passenger transport services to the area and is a vital link for the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
The Birdsville Aerodrome is 48m above sea level and is located adjacent to the iconic Birdsville Hotel.
Currently Avgas is available upon request.
Pavement Concession Requests
Pavement Concessions are required where the aircraft’s ACN is greater than 9 for Bedourie airport and greater than 10 for Birdsville airport (in accordance with the En Route Supplement Australia(ERSA)
Pavement Concession Requests must be sent to email@example.com a minimum of seven days prior to intended operations. A Pavement Concession Application Fee of $120 (inc GST) will be charged for each application.
Landing and Parking Requests
Apart from during the Birdsville Races, Diamantina Shire Council does not have any landing or parking fees.

Details regarding parking at the Birdsville airport during the races can be found at:
REX (Regional Express) flies Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday to both Bedourie and Birdsville.
The Diamantina Shire Council has created a Disability Access Facilitation Plan for both the Bedourie and Birdsville Airports.
