The Bedourie Aerodrome following a significant reconstruction, was officially opened on September 16, 2008 by the Honourable John Mickel, Minister for Transport, Trade, Employment and Industrial Relations. The reconstruction of Diamantina’s Airstrip was at an estimated cost of $1.77 million. The airstrip is considered a vital community asset that has improved regular passenger transport services to the area and is a vital link for the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
The Birdsville Aerodrome is 48m above sea level and is located adjacent to the iconic Birdsville Hotel.
Currently Avgas is available upon request.
REX (Regional Express) flies Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday to both Bedourie and Birdsville.
