Introducing the 2024 Community Grants Funding Initiative

Welcome to the Diamantina Shire Council's Community Grants Program for 2024! Our program is dedicated to supporting individuals and community groups/organizations in delivering a diverse array of activities, programs, and services that enrich our community life. Whether it's artistic endeavours, cultural celebrations, recreational pursuits, sporting events, or other community-related initiatives, we provide financial and in-kind assistance fairly and transparently.

To ensure that our community support effectively contributes to the region's well-being and benefits our residents, Council has meticulously crafted a Community Grants Policy and streamlined the application process.

Information and fact sheets for people and organisations interested in applying for community grants through other Avenues of Funding

Guides and fact sheets are available for individuals and organisations keen on seeking community grants through alternative funding avenues. Grants play a pivotal role in sustaining non-profit entities, with billions of dollars distributed annually by various bodies, including governmental bodies at local, state, and federal levels, philanthropic groups, community trusts, and corporate foundations. 

Here are some grants and funding opportunities available in Queensland for various purposes:

Queensland Government

  • The Queensland Government offers various grants and assistance programs that may benefit community organisations and businesses. More information is available on its official website.
  • These grants cover a wide range of areas, including community support, business development, and more.

Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF)
Grants up to $35,000 are available to increase the capacity of not-for-profit groups to provide opportunities for Queensland communities. There are four funding rounds per year.

Community Heritage Grants up to $15,000 to assist with preserving locally owned but nationally significant collections.

National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC)
Funding for local community NAIDOC week activities, held annually in the first week of July. Applications open in early April each year.

Queensland Destination Events Program
To foster regional tourism and economic development. Grants are available to develop destination events or support significant events—four yearly funding rounds.

Grants to support charitable organizations and projects are assessed from a pool of funding requests made to the Foundation.

Letters of support

To obtain a letter of support from the Council for their funding application, organizations must email admin@diamantina.qld.gov.au. Please include a document with a 'draft version' of the letter text to ensure all pertinent issues are covered.
