The primary health care service provided in Diamantina Shire resulted from an innovative move by Council involving funding from three government levels. Queensland Health employs four Registered Nurses - two in both Birdsville and Bedourie.
The Birdsville Clinic, constructed by Diamantina Shire Council, was opened on 30th September 2005. It is a high-quality facility from which primary health care services are provided. Situated right next door is the previous clinic building owned by Frontier Services, which provided an invaluable service to the community for over 80 years.
