About Our Local Disaster Management Plan
The Diamantina Shire Local Disaster Management Plan 2024–2025 outlines how our community works together to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disaster events. While major natural disasters are uncommon in the region, our plan helps ensure we are ready to act quickly and effectively when challenges arise.
Developed under Queensland’s disaster management framework, the plan focuses on local resilience—keeping people safe, protecting our towns and environment, and supporting recovery after an event. It brings together council, emergency services, community groups, and government agencies to coordinate efforts before, during, and after a disaster.
Through strong local leadership and community cooperation, the Diamantina Shire is committed to being prepared, informed, and resilient—whatever the future brings.
