Diamantina Shire Council is pleased to invite residents and visitors to celebrate Australia Day 2026 at free community events in Birdsville and Bedourie on Monday 26 January 2026.
These family-friendly celebrations are proudly supported by National Australia Day Council funding, enabling Council to deliver inclusive community events across the shire.

Bedourie Where: Simpson Desert Oasis Roadhouse When: From 3.00pm
Both events will offer free entry, free food, non-alcoholic drinks and a range of fun activities and games for all ages. Community members are encouraged to come along, connect with friends and neighbours, and enjoy a relaxed celebration in the heart of the outback.
Australia Day is an opportunity to reflect, respect and celebrate what it means to be Australian, recognising both our shared history and the diverse communities that make up our nation.
