Bedourie Subdivision Opens the Door to New Housing and Growth

Diamantina Shire Council has celebrated the official opening of the new Bedourie Subdivision, marking an important milestone for housing and future growth in the community.
The opening ceremony was held on Monday, 20 July 2026, with Mayor Francis Murray and Councillors joined by Sean Dillon MP, Assistant Minister for Primary Industry Development, Water and Western Queensland, representatives from the Queensland Government, project contractors, consultants and Council staff.
As the first new residential subdivision in Bedourie in more than 30 years, the project represents a significant investment in the town’s future.
The subdivision includes more than 30 residential blocks, creating opportunities for additional housing and supporting the long-term growth and sustainability of Bedourie. The new blocks will be released to the market in the near future.
Guests attending the ceremony included Brendan Smith from North QLD Civil and Estimating Services and Stuart Bourne from GBA Consulting.
Council’s Executive Leadership Team also attended, along with staff who contributed to the delivery and preparation of the subdivision.
Mayor Francis Murray said the subdivision was an important investment in Bedourie’s future.
“Providing additional residential land is essential to supporting the future of Bedourie. These new blocks will create opportunities for people to build homes, settle in our community and contribute to the ongoing strength of the town.”
Council thanks the Queensland Government, project partners, contractors, consultants and staff whose work helped bring the subdivision to completion.
