Get ready Queensland - make a plan
The new Get Ready Queensland Household Severe Weather Emergency Plan is helping Queenslanders plan for extreme weather. Research shows that while 59% of Queenslanders have an emergency plan, only 19% have written their plan down, which is why Get Ready Queensland have developed a new online tool to make it even easier to be prepared.

About the Plan

Users are stepped through the planning process and provided with localised risk information to help them know what to do and who to contact. The finalised plan is a downloadable PDF and includes essential contacts and comprehensive checklists which can be saved and printed. Council can assist with printing if you don't have access to a printer.

After finalising your plan, you will receive a detailed PDF that includes:

  • Your completed Household Severe Weather Emergency Plan.
  • Your personal important contact details from your completed plan, plus crucial information such as local disaster dashboards.
  • A checklist of essential actions to take before the severe weather season begins to protect your home.
  • A guide to building an emergency kit.
  • A packing list for an evacuation kit.

The simple online form makes it quick and easy to plan for an emergency and know what to do and who to contact. It takes just a few minutes and will give you peace of mind that you have a plan and your information is in one place.

Plus there are some bonus checklists and useful tips and hints, to help you stay safe if severe weather hits.

Once you have filled in your online plan you can create a downloadable PDF which can be saved, printed and shared with family or friends.

Being prepared can reduce your risk during a disaster. Amazingly, research shows that those who have undertaken disaster preparation also recover more quickly!

Give some thought to what you will do if the worst happens, and make a plan today.

Weather doesn’t plan, but you can. Complete your household plan in minutes with the smart tool.
