Council wishes to advise residents and visitors that Diamantina National Park will be temporarily closed to the public from Sunday, 17 May 2026, to Saturday, 23 May 2026.

Council has commenced a 3.6km bitumen upgrade on the Eyre Developmental Road, located 54km south of Bedourie (on the way to Birdsville).
The project is expected to take approximately three months, with a detour now in place and a 60km/h speed limit enforced through the work zone.
We ask all travellers to slow down and take care through the site — your patience helps keep our road crews and fellow drivers safe.
