Recent heavy rainfall has caused river levels to rise and flooding across the Diamantina River catchment and its upper tributaries. Major flooding is occurring at Diamantina Lakes. Council has commenced a 3.6km bitumen upgrade on the Eyre Developmental Road, located 54km south of Bedourie (on the way to Birdsville).
The project is expected to take approximately three months, with a detour now in place and a 60km/h speed limit enforced through the work zone.
