Diamantina Shire Council is seeking community feedback for a proposal to purchase and deploy a portable Changing Places facility within the Shire.

Changing Places facilities provide additional space and specialised equipment for people with disability who cannot use a standard accessible toilet. They are designed to support people with high support needs, their families and carers.

Council is preparing an Expression of Interest under the Queensland Government’s Accessible Australia in Queensland program. If successful, the funding would support the purchase of a portable facility for use at community events and other suitable public locations across the Shire.

Council particularly welcomes feedback from people with disability, families, carers, service providers and community members who have experienced barriers accessing suitable bathroom and change facilities in Diamantina.

Feedback may address:
• gaps in existing accessible toilet and changing facilities;
• where and when the portable facility would be most useful;
• access, features or operating arrangements that should be considered; and
• how the facility could improve access to public places, services, events and community
activities.

Have your say by completing the online survey by 15 August 2026. Take the survey here.

Feedback can also be provided by contacting Council on 07 4746 1619 or emailing Dana.Livne@Diamantina.qld.gov.au by 15 August 2026.
