Public Notice: Wet Area Birdsville Race Week 2025

Diamantina Shire Council has designated certain places in Birdsville to be 'Wet Areas' where liquor may be consumed during the Birdsville Races period.

The Wet Areas are listed below and will operate between 10:00am on Wednesday, 3 September 2025, and 2:00am on Monday, 8 September 2025:

• Adelaide Street (west to MacDonald Street)
• MacDonald Street from the corner of Adelaide Street to Tent City
• Tent City, The Oval
• Burt Street
• Frew Street
• Florence Street
• Graham Street
• Vaughan Street
• The Birdsville Airport Carpark
• Eyre Development Road between Birdsville and the Birdsville Racecourse and
• Part of the Birdsville Town Common, North and South of the Eyre Development Road, between Pelican Point Access Gate and the Birdsville Racecourse.

Signage will be erected to advise the boundaries of the Wet Areas, which can also be viewed on the Wet Area Plans.(PDF, 174KB)

Please ensure your behaviour is appropriate within this area, as Queensland Police and Security will be making regular patrols.
