Diamantina Shire – Memories of times past
Graves within the shire and on pastoral properties have made a lasting mark on the landscape. The terrible toll of epidemics, volatile environments and war are etched in stone, many graves stand in paddocks a silent testament to these casualties being buried where they fell or communities long gone; Remnants of early European settlement including Mayne Hotel with 22 graves dated from 1884 to 1944.
