Current Rates and Charges
Rating Category Statement
Council sets its general rates each year in line with the Local Government Regulation 2012. Under this legislation, Council can apply a minimum general rate (Section 77) and use a differential rating (Section 80), meaning different rates may apply to different types of properties.
The Diamantina Shire Council Rating Category Statement shows the general rates adopted by Council for the 2025–2026 financial year.
If you believe your property has been placed in the wrong rating category
If you think the rating category listed on your rates notice is incorrect, you can submit an objection using Council's Notice of Objection Form.
This must be lodged within 30 days from the date on your rates notice.
Printed forms are available at the Bedourie Administration Centre if needed.
Please note:
-
Lodging an objection does not change your responsibility to pay the rates by the due date.
-
Objections can only be made on the basis that, based on Council’s rating criteria, your property has been placed in the wrong category.
This process is set out under Part 5, Division 4 of the Local Government Regulation 2012.
