A Show-Stopping Outback First—Opera Queensland to Perform at the Betoota Races
Opera Queensland will take centre stage at the 2025 Betoota Races on Saturday, August 30, bringing a one-of-a-kind musical experience to the tiny outback town in an exciting cultural first.
Brought to the region as part of Opera Queensland's 2025 regional tour, their latest production, All Together Now!, is a feel-good performance that blends the best of opera classics with pop hits, folk favourites, and iconic Aussie anthems. Designed to unite communities through song, the Opera Queensland production encourages everyone—regardless of age or background—to sing along and soak up the joy.
President of the Betoota Race Club, Kerry Morton, said the club was extremely excited to partner with Diamantina Shire Council and Opera Queensland to bring a world-class arts experience to one of Queensland's most remote race meets.
"The Betoota Races have always been a celebration of the outback spirit - and this year, we're taking that celebration to a whole new level. Whether you're here for the horses, the dust, the mateship or now, the music, there'll be something for everyone," Roxy Weston, Betoota Race Club said.
Diamantina Shire Mayor Francis Murray echoed the excitement, saying the performance reflects Council's ongoing commitment to community connection and cultural enrichment in the bush.
"It's not every day you get to experience the magic of opera under the vast outback sky. This partnership is a great example of how we can bring people together in new ways while celebrating everything that makes remote Queensland unique," Mayor Murray said.
All Together Now! will be held at the Betoota Racecourse on the Saturday afternoon after the races, for locals and visitors alike.
Don't miss your chance to be part of this truly special music, community, and outback hospitality.
