Public Notice - Notification of Approved Systematic Inspection Program

In accordance with Section 134(5) of the Local Government Act 2009 (the Act) notice is hereby given that the Diamantina Shire Council intends to conduct a systematic inspection program to monitor compliance with Chapter 3, Part 1 of the Animal Management (Cats & Dogs) Act 2008 and Schedule 1 and Schedule 4 of Subordinate Local Law No. 2 (Animal Management) 2013. Inspections will be confined to properties located within the defined Township areas of Bedourie and Birdsville.
The purpose and scope of the program is to carry out inspections of properties for dog registration of all animals over the age of 12 weeks and to ensure that dogs have been registered in accordance with section 46 of the Animal Management (Cats & Dogs) Act 2008 and to ensure that a property of less than or equal to 350m2 does not contain more than 2 dogs and to ensure the minimum standards for keeping animals are being met.
The program will commence on 1 September 2021 and will be completed by 1 December 2021.
The program is intended to include entry onto properties located within the approved inspection areas.
