About the role:
As a Tourism and Events Officer with Diamantina Shire Council, you can expect to lead a small team to deliver high-quality visitor services, foster strong community and tourism partnerships, and contribute to the success of major regional events that attract visitors from around the globe.
Roles and responsibilities include:
● Supervise and guide visitor information centre staff and services
● Support and coordinate Shire and community events
● Foster positive community engagement and tourism partnerships
● Manage operational tasks and staff scheduling
● Contribute to tourism marketing and promotional efforts
● Monitor visitor satisfaction and quality standards
Experience and qualifications
● Certificate IV in tourism management, hospitality, or a related field (preferred)
● Minimum 3 years experience in tourism or events management
● Strong leadership and team supervision experience
● Excellent communication and customer service skills
● Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and operational tasks
● Familiarity with quality assurance, reporting, and stakeholder engagement
● Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays as required
