Summary:
Bring your leadership experience in civil and/or road construction to repair and maintain a network of council roads, critical infrastructure for the Diamantina Shire Council and other small outback towns.
About the role:
As a Maintenance Supervisor with Diamantina Shire Council, you will lead and manage the day-to-day operations and responsibilities of the Maintenance team, ensuring that infrastructure assets are maintained following the asset management plan and work program.
You will coordinate the team and other resources to deliver optimum service while fostering and supporting a positive culture of teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
The position liaises with external providers, contractors, and teams and may require rotation through other supervisor positions within the Infrastructure Department.
Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Plan, manage and supervise the day-to-day operations, performance and activities of the road construction and/or maintenance teams
- Ensure the team has the resources to complete assigned projects/tasks and provide high-quality work that conforms to required specifications and/or work practices within agreed-upon timeframes.
- Coordinate and undertake road maintenance and construction activities on worksites in accordance with approved designs, industry and DTMR standards, procedures and safety regulations.
- Ensure the operation and maintenance of vehicle/plant is undertaken in a safe and efficient manner
- Ensure the daily maintenance of the assigned plant and work with the workshop service team in the repair and maintenance
- Ensure the team undertake plant pre-start inspections and report any defects or safety concerns to the workshop services team.
- Coordinate site operations, undertake site inductions, team meetings and toolbox talks, as required, to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for the team.
- Lead and manage the performance and workflows of the teams and contractors
- Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the Works Maintenance budget
- Provide technical advice and reports to management
- Provide work progress reports to the Manager and complete relevant safety, plant and job management documents, including accurate timesheets and plant running sheets
- Complete and document maintenance of infrastructure assets in accordance with the asset maintenance plan and works program
- Ensure plant, camp facilities and equipment are clean and maintained
Experience and qualifications:
- Certificate III or IV in Civil Construction (or ability to obtain)
- ‘C’ Class Queensland Drivers Licence or higher
- ‘MR’ Class Queensland Drivers Licence (or the ability to obtain)
- Certificate of Competency in Civil Construction Grader Operations
- Construction Safety Induction Card (White Card)
- Traffic Controller Level 1 (or the ability to obtain)
Pre-Employment Health Assessment and National Police Check before the appointment are required.
Desirable:
- 5 years’ previous experience in road construction and maintenance or a similar supervisory position
- Plant competencies in backhoe, front-end loader, skid steer and forklift or ability to obtain
- Level 2 Traffic Management Certificate
- First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Confined Space Entry Certificate
