Water Heat Exchanger Issue - BIRDSVILLE

The Diamantina Shire Council wishes to advise that on the 13 March 2023, the Birdsville heat exchanger malfunctioned, which has caused the town water supply heat to increase substantially.

Council is currently working to implement a long-term solution to this problem. Council officers are currently draining the cooling pond to inspect a possible burst pipe in the system, and will subsequently investigate how to restructure the system to resolve any further issues.

Council are expecting the inspection and fix to be completed and the cooling pond refilled by 17 March 2023.

For residents to keep a steady supply of cool water, we suggest that hot water systems be turned off, which will allow for the bore water flowing into them to cool down and be used for general purposes.

We apologise for any inconvenience and it will be fixed as soon as possible.
