Council wishes to advise that night work will commence at the Birdsville cooling ponds on Saturday 1 February 2025 from 8pm - 6am. Works are expected to be completed by Wednesday 19 February 2025.

Council advises that road works, reseals, and street sweeping will commence in Birdsville today, expected to take around two weeks, weather permitting. Reseal work on Big Red Road is also scheduled.

Council announces the temporary closure of Adelaide Street, between Frew Street and Burt Street in Birdsville, on Friday 17 January 2025, from 7am to 12pm due to repairs at Birdsville State School.

Congratulations to all the winners of this year’s Christmas Lights Competition!  Your festive displays lit up our towns and brought holiday cheer to everyone.  

Garbage collections for Birdsville and Bedourie during the Christmas period will occur on the following dates: Tuesday, 24 December, Friday, 27 December, and Tuesday, 31 December 2024.

Council facilities including Wirrarri and Bedourie Visitor Centres, Bedourie Admin Office, and playgroups, will close from 5pm, 20 Dec 2024, until 6 Jan 2025. Birdsville Tourist Park will remain open.
